MADRID 29 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

In the last few hours, at least 130 prisoners detained during the protests following the presidential elections of July 28 have been released, in which the opposition denounces fraud in the official results, which gave victory to President Nicolás Maduro.

The NGO Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners (CLPP) has specifically reported the release of 60 people from the Tocuyito prison (Carabobo), 15 women in Puerto Cabello, 4 more in Maracay and 59 more prisoners in Tocorón (Aragua). ).

The releases occurred between Friday, December 27, and the morning of Saturday, December 28, according to relatives of those affected cited by the CLPP in a message published on their account on the social network X.

According to the CLPP, those released must sign a document in which they assure that their human rights were respected during their detention and detainees are threatened with withholding the release order issued by the court if they refuse to sign.

Relatives of those detained remain hopeful that all political prisoners will be released before the end of the year so they can join their loved ones to celebrate the holidays.

According to the NGO Foro Penal, some 1,900 political prisoners remain held in Venezuelan prisons.
