MADRID 27 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The new Syrian authorities arrested this Thursday southeast of the Syrian city of Tartus the former director of the military justice department of the former Bashar al Assad regime, Muhamad Kanjo Hasan, who had been one of those responsible for the crimes perpetrated in the Sednaya prison, as reported by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The organization, based in London but with informants in the Arab country, has explained that the Department of Military Operations has managed to arrest Kanjo Hasan and 20 of its members in the town of Jirbet al Mazá, in the Tartus governorate, after a operation against “militias” loyal to the old regime.

Hours earlier, sources consulted by the Observatory explained that several towns in Tartus witnessed a massive escape of officials during the Assad Government who had been involved in crimes against the Syrian people, coinciding with the launch of a large-scale security campaign. .

The Department of Military Operations, which has searched several homes, has also established several points for the voluntary surrender of weapons in the area during a 24-hour period for compliance.

The announcement came a day after the death of at least fourteen members of the new Ministry of the Interior in an “ambush” carried out by armed men. Afterwards, the miniserial portfolio stressed that “it will strike with an iron fist anyone who dares to alter the security of Syria and the lives of its people.”

The new authorities have been established after the fall of Al Assad due to the offensive launched by jihadists and rebels led by Hayat Tahrir al Sham (HTS), whose leader, Ahmed Hussein al Shara, known as Abu Mohamed al Golani, is in currently the ‘de facto’ leader of the Asian country.
