At least 14 dead and 22 injured in two-vehicle head-on collision in western Uganda

MADRID 3 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least 14 people have been killed and 22 others injured in a head-on collision between two taxis on a road in the Kyenjojo district of western Uganda, near the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Police spokesman Vincent Twesige explained this Thursday that the accident took place the night before and that the bodies of the people who have not been identified have been transferred to the Kyenjojo hospital morgue.

For his part, the director of said hospital center has specified that of the 22 injured, 18 have been sent to the Fort Portal Regional Hospital, which is about 50 meters away, according to the newspaper ‘Monitor’.

Preliminary reports indicate that a taxi collided head-on with another that was overtaking a truck stopped due to a mechanical breakdown. The Police have attributed the accident to the driver’s reckless driving, since the stopped truck was marked.
