At least four died due to violent death during the last hours in Arab-Israeli communities

More than 200 members of this community have been murdered in 2024 in incidents associated with criminal gangs, in line with last year’s record

MADRID, 16 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Israel Police have confirmed the death of four people in various violent incidents that occurred on Friday in the country’s Arab communities, where more than 200 people have been murdered since the beginning of the year in events related to criminal gangs.

The endemic poverty of many of the residents of Israel’s northern Arab communities has generated enormous tension that the economic crises of recent years and the Gaza war have brought to a boiling point. Its inhabitants have denounced a state of complete marginalization, as well as the passivity of the Israeli Police, which has left their neighborhoods in the hands of criminal gangs or family clans of criminals.

The deceased have been identified as Fajri Abu Madighem, 25 years old and stabbed in Rahat; Muhamad Yahya, 30 years old and shot dead in Kafr Qara; Louay Sheij Youssef, 25 years old, also killed by a firearm in Lod and Faraj Abu Arar, about 20 years old and also died after being shot several times in Arara, in the Negev, as reported by the Israeli Police in a report given to known by the ‘Jerusalem Post’.

Last year ended with record numbers of deaths in this community and everything seems to indicate, according to the estimates of the NGO Abraham Initiatives, dedicated to the study of violence in these communities, that this year the same course will follow. Since the beginning of 2024, 209 residents of these communities have been murdered, compared to 214 last year in the same period.

Given the situation, the head of the Israel Police, Commissioner Daniel Levi, has met with the Minister of National Security, the ultranationalist Itamar Ben-Gvir — pointed out precisely by these communities as one of the indirect architects of this escalation of violence — to discuss the events and the operational measures to be adopted.
