More than a hundred people have been arrested and at least ten security agents have been injured in Georgia in the context of the protests that have taken place for the second consecutive day in several cities in the country, including the capital, Tbilisi, as a sign of discontent against the Government of Irakli Kobajidze, according to government sources.

“(Up to) 107 people have been detained by law enforcement forces in accordance with articles 166 and 173 of the Code of Administrative Offenses for disobedience to the legal request of the Police officer and minor vandalism,” the Ministry of the Interior reported this Saturday. This Friday, Georgia experienced the second consecutive night in which part of its population took to the streets of the country’s main cities, attacking Kobajidze for his decision to abandon negotiations for accession to the EU until the end of 2028. European Union, thus certifying a course similar to Moscow that began months ago with the approval of a law on foreign agents similar to that approved by the Kremlin.

Thursday’s demonstrations culminated in nearly fifty arrests, while several people reported beatings by the Police, including journalists. For the moment, this Friday’s protests are progressing without major altercations, although the Police have already used water cannons to disperse the masses.
