CHE 2-0 TOT: 2 Observations From Chelsea Performance Against Tottenham Today

6 months ago 212

Apparently, Chelsea shocked Antonio Conte once again in the 2021-2022 campaign, as they defeated Tottenham 2-0 at Stamford Bridge this evening. Of course, the Blues are now 10 points behind Manchester City, and 1 point behind Liverpool in the league table. In all fairness, Chelsea aren't really out of the EPL title race, if they continue their amazing performance.

Meanwhile, there are two observations from the Thomas Tuchel's men performance against Tottenham today, as the Blues dazzled impressively throughout the 90 minutes. Without a doubt, the Antonio Conte's men were quite passive, as they didn't hold back in attacking Chelsea. As a result, these two observations were deduced from the match this evening.

Firstly, Chelsea play better under the formation of 4-3-3 with Hakim Ziyech in the midfield. Apparently, the Blues dazzled amazingly with the lineup of 5 attackers, particularly with the Moroccan wizard from the midfield. The Thomas Tuchel's men were both offensive and defensive against Tottenham this evening, mainly because they played four defenders at the back, and Hakim Ziyech had enough space to use his passing range, as he had 6 successful long balls this evening. The 3-4-3 formation has been helping Chelsea so far under Thomas Tuchel, but the players were amazing today, especially the attackers. Only Jorginho commanded the midfield against Tottenham, while the likes of Ziyech, Hudson-Odoi, Kovavic and Mount dazzled offensively. With all that being said, Chelsea perform better under the formation of 4-3-3, as the Moroccan will have enough space to execute his creativity.

Secondly, Malang Sarr perfectly befits the 4-man defensive setup more than Marcos Alonso. In all honesty, Chelsea may not need to sign a new left-back in January, as they already have everything they want in the Frenchman. Malang Sarr is way above Marcos Alonso in the left-back position, which means he can comfortably play as a left-wing-back. Still under the formation of 4-3-3, Malang Sarr didn't take it lightly with Tottenham attackers, as he had 2 clearances and had completed all his ground and aerial duels. Apparently, perhaps Marcos Alonso should sit on the bench for now, because the French youngster perfectly fits the left-back position, as regards his all-around displays this evening.
