After having to cancel several shows on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sir Elton John, in collaboration with iHeartRadio, will be hosting a benefit show this Sunday to support health care workers fighting against coronavirus.
The show, entitled the iHeart Living Room Concert for America, will feature a multitude of big-name stars, including Billie Eilish, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, the Backstreet Boys, and Tim McGraw, to name a few.
“The special, which begins at 9 pm ET on March 29, will be broadcast on MUCH and MTV Canada, where viewers will be encouraged to donate to the Canadian Red Cross,” the iHeartRadio Canada website states.
It will also be available for streaming from the iHeartRadio app.
John was supposed to be performing in Toronto on Sunday night as part of his tour. However, he had no choice but to cancel due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The iHeart Living Room Concert for America will pay tribute to those working firsthand during this challenging time to fight the further spread of coronavirus, including healthcare workers, first responders, and others.
“Some of music’s biggest stars are inviting you into their homes for a special one-hour event to help support relief for all of the first responders and everyone else who has been risking their lives every day in the fight against the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the victims of its rippling effects,” the iHeartRadio website explains.
The concert will also feature special guest appearances from celebrities, including Demi Lovato, Lizzo, and Russel Wilson.
On top of being able to watch some of their favourite artists perform, US viewers also have the opportunity to donate to two of many organizations raising funds to assist victims and first responders during the coronavirus pandemic — Feeding America and First Responders Children’s Foundation.
