Manchester United made three changes to the squad that drew 1-1 Southampton with Victor Lindelof replacing the sick Raphael Varane while Fred replaced Pogba in midfield and youngster Elanga started ahead of Marcus Rashford.
The first half was not Manchester United best as they failed to create clear cut chances. Brighton had the best chance of the first half but David de Gea was up to the task.
Minutes later, Elanga dispossessed Lewis Dunk in the box and the Brighton defender brought him down and was shown the red card. Brighton were reduced to ten men and Manchester United emerged with a 1-0 win.
