A convoy of trucks carrying humanitarian aid has arrived in an area south of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, controlled by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to deliver supplies for the first time since the outbreak of war between the group and the Armed in April 2023.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has confirmed the delivery through a message on its account on the social network (MSF) and the Khartoum Emergency Response Room.

“Our trucks, part of a UNICEF and WFP convoy, together with MSF Sudan and the Khartoum Emergency Response Room, have delivered vital health and nutritional supplies to Al Bashayer Hospital and primary healthcare centers in Jebel Aulia, Khartoum “, he stated.

The Southern Belt Emergency Room has specified in a statement published on its account on the Telegram social network that it is “the first shipment to arrive in the south of Khartoum since the outbreak of war in April 2023”, so has spoken of “a positive step”.

“We see positive progress in the interest of humanitarian work,” he stressed to the organization, which has called on all parties to “make this step a start towards broader coordination of the humanitarian response and the creation of corridors.” permanent humanitarian efforts, with the aim of stopping the war, achieving peace and stability at the humanitarian level.

For its part, a spokesperson for the RSF has indicated that the Sudanese Agency for Aid and Humanitarian Operations, linked to the paramilitaries, has facilitated the deliveries and has added that in the coming days another 54 trucks with humanitarian aid will arrive, according to the report. In another vein, the state of North Darfur (west) has been the scene of new fighting between the Army and the RSF, with the death of eight police officers in a drone attack by the paramilitaries against a police station in the city of El Fasher, capital of the state.
