Germany raises the official number of injuries from the Magdeburg attack to almost 300

MAGDEBURG (GERMANY), 3 (DPA/EP)

The German authorities have raised this Friday to 299 the official number of injuries caused by the mass accident perpetrated at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, which caused the death of five people.

Until now, the number of injured was 235, but the Ministry of the Interior of the state of Saxony-Anhalt has updated the figure after verifying, among other issues, that some of the victims did not initially go to the authorities or were registered later.

The attack took place on December 20, when a 50-year-old man identified as Taleb A., of Saudi origin, drove his vehicle into a compound where hundreds of people were gathered. He remains in prison awaiting trial and, according to authorities, he already had a history of threats.
