Gervonta Davis has been in the headlines recently, as the boxer is gearing up to face off against Rolly Romero on May 28 in a lightweight bout on Showtime Pay-Per-View. The two got into a heated exchange during their press conference for the upcoming fight. Now, Davis has sat down for an interview ahead of the bout this week and revealed that he would no longer be with Mayweather Promotions.
Davis was asked about controlling his career and leaving Mayweather Promotions. He responded by saying “It’s about becoming that man, handling your own responsibilities and priorities. I feel as though it’s my career, so I feel as though I need to be the one to control my career.” He continued saying, “And it’s time. Everybody don’t need to have them training wheels on them forever.” Tank was then asked if the Romero fight would be his last one for Mayweather Promotions and responded by saying, “Yes sir.”
Tank noted there’s no bad blood between him and the promotion company. Watch above.
