MADRID 1 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, nominated this Saturday the lawyer and researcher Cash Patel, who worked at the Pentagon during his first term, as a candidate to head the country’s Federal Bureau of Investigation, and has argued that he did already then “an incredible job” defending “America First.”
“I am proud to announce that Kashyap “Kash” Patel will be the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Kash is a brilliant lawyer, investigator and fighter for ‘America First’ who has dedicated his career to exposing corruption, defending justice and protect the American people,” the Republican announced through a publication on his social network, Truth Social.
Trump has recalled the “fundamental role” that Patel played in the “discovery” of the alleged Russian plot to interfere in the 2016 presidential elections, underscoring his commendable performance “as a defender of truth, accountability and the Constitution.”
“Kash did an incredible job during my first term, serving as Chief of Staff of the Department of Defense, Deputy Director of National Intelligence and Senior Director of Counterterrorism at the National Security Council,” he added.
Donald Trump’s purpose with this appointment is to end the “growing epidemic” of crime in the country, as well as the dismantling of criminal gangs and human and drug trafficking networks, “to recover fidelity, courage and integrity in the FBI,” he concluded.
Patel will succeed Christopher Wray, appointed to the position in 2017 during Trump’s first term at the helm of the White House and whose ten-year term would not end until 2027.
