MADRID 29 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The leader of the Lebanese Shiite party-militia Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, has delved into the group’s version that the ceasefire reached with the Israeli Army to cease attacks in Lebanon is a “great victory” for the resistance and a sign that the Israeli authorities had to accept the pact to “save” their troops deployed in southern Lebanon.
Qassem gave a speech this Friday in which he highlighted that the current war with Israel “exceeds that of July 2006” not only in terms of duration, but also in the “ferocity of the fighting”, and in terms of the figures of Hezbollah’s “sacrifices” and for the “foreign and American support” provided to Israel, according to the Lebanese newspaper ‘L’Orient-Le Jour’.
The leader of Hezbollah has congratulated the members of the Islamist group for their performance in the war, which has frustrated Israel’s victory and has caused its Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to have to promote the ceasefire agreement as a clear shows that “he needed this truce to save his Army.”
“One of the images of the enemy’s defeat is the image of our people returning and the settlers on the other side not returning. We won because we prevented the enemy from destroying Hezbollah, and we prevented them from ending the resistance. We won because the enemy has been forced to justify the agreement,” he added.
At this point, he has delved into the fact that the Lebanese Islamist resistance “celebrated the victory in Beirut with Hezbollah flags”, while the Israelis raised “white flags” in Tel Aviv. The agreement has already raised doubts among the Israeli opposition and even part of the Government, such as the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir.
Thus, the leader of Hezbollah has highlighted that the “legendary resistance” has impressed the world and has instilled fear and “despair” in the Israeli population and political class. “We do not want war, but we were able to stop it with our force and our fire,” Qassem stressed.
Qassem highlighted that “the plans” put in place by the late leader of Hezbollah, Hasan Nasrallah, to confront Israel have been shown to be “effective and took into account evolving circumstances.” At this point, he recalled that more than 70,000 people in northern Israel have had to leave their homes, while the Army has suffered “many human and material losses.”
Regarding the ceasefire agreement, Qassem has presented as a victory that it tries to comply with the provisions of resolution 1701 of the United Nations Security Council and that the regular Lebanese Army is given the powers to “extend” throughout the south of the country. . “The agreement was made under the roof of Lebanese sovereignty and we accept it with our heads held high in our right to defense,” he added.
Finally, Qassem recalled all the leaders of Hezbollah and other Islamist groups, at which time he praised the support shown by Iran and the Houthi rebels of Yemen for the Palestinian cause and the attacks against Israel. Regarding the Palestinian cause, he has asserted that his support “does not cease” and the final objective continues to be “the liberation of Jerusalem.”
