The leader of the Lebanese Shiite party-militia Hezbollah, Naim Qasem, has assured that Israel must be aware that the Islamist group will respond to the bombings on Beirut with an attack “in the center of Tel Aviv”, all within the framework of the regional hostilities unleashed following the Hamas attacks of October 2023.
“Israel attacked the heart of Beirut, so it must expect the response to take place in the center of Tel Aviv,” the Hezbollah leader, former deputy secretary general but who took the reins of the group after the attack, said in a public statement. assassination of Hasan Nasrallah precisely in one of those attacks carried out by the Israeli Army on the Lebanese capital.
In this sense, Qasem has acknowledged that the Islamist group went through a phase of “confusion” in the days after Nasrallah’s death, as he had been the leader of the Shiite militia for more than three decades. “We have recovered our vigor in all areas and we have the necessary means to face the challenges,” Qasem stated during a speech reported by ‘L’Orient-Le Jour’.
Thus, Qasem has stressed that Hezbollah’s main battle against Israel was in support of the Palestinian cause, but that a couple of months ago the group launched a new military campaign against the Israelis called ‘The Battle of the Brave. ‘ and whose objective is “to repel the comprehensive aggression against Lebanon.”
To this end, the group, “which is not a regular Army,” has engaged in clashes with Israeli troops “wherever they want to advance.” Within the framework of these attacks, Hezbollah has caused the death of dozens of Israeli soldiers, although the military authorities of that country do not provide complete data, according to Qasem.
“The resistance works to eliminate the enemy and prevent the occupation from continuing, and we have presented an exceptional model in this regard. The resistance has the capacity to continue at this pace for a long time. Israel cannot defeat us,” said the leader of Hezbollah.
Thus, Qasem has acknowledged that the group has received a “negotiation document”, which will be studied in depth in the coming days, although he has already announced that for Hezbollah “a complete ceasefire” and “a complete ceasefire” are essential conditions. the preservation of Lebanese sovereignty”.
