This Tuesday, Iran’s security forces began a series of military maneuvers near the Natanz nuclear power plant, located in the center of the country, activities that come amid heightened tension in the region, especially as a result of the offensive. launched by Israel in October 2023 against the Gaza Strip.
The maneuvers, under the name ‘Eqtedar’ (which means power in Farsi), include the participation of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and the Armed Forces. Thus, the first phase has already begun, according to information collected by the Tasnim news agency.
Iranian forces will consider possible threats, such as “multiple” airstrikes in “difficult conditions facilitated by electronic warfare,” especially after Israeli authorities have repeatedly threatened to bomb Iranian nuclear facilities.
On Monday, the spokesman for the Revolutionary Guard, Mohamad Naini, stated that these maneuvers, which will also be extended to other parts of the country for the month of March, respond to “new security threats.”
Iran’s nuclear program continues to be at the center of an international dispute amid suspicions by Western countries about Tehran’s alleged intention to develop nuclear weapons, something that the Iranian government continues to deny.
