MADRID 8 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Government of Iran has rejected this Tuesday the “false” statements of the French president, Emmanuel Macron, who assured this week in a speech before the French ambassadors that the Asian country is the “main strategic and security challenge for Europeans and the entire region”.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has asked Macron to reconsider “his non-constructive approaches towards peace and stability” in the Middle East, due to statements that it has described as “unfounded, contradictory and speculative” about the regional role of the Islamic Republic.
“It is very regrettable that instead of accusing a genocidal and apartheid regime whose leaders are wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC), the French president points the accusing finger at a country that has always been a herald of peace and respect for the principles of International Law,” declared the ministerial spokesperson, Ismaeil Baqaei, alluding to the Israeli Government.
“The immediate and real threat to regional peace and stability is Israel’s occupation regime which, with the full support of the United States and some European countries, including France, in addition to the continued occupation and genocide in occupied Palestine , is the extent of military aggression and expansionism that has continuously spread to different countries in the region,” he added.
The spokesman for Iranian diplomacy has also condemned Macron’s “false” statements about the Iranian nuclear program, criticizing that they come from “a Government that has refused to comply with its obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action” and that “has played an important role in the acquisition of nuclear weapons.
These words from the Iranian authorities come after the French president warned earlier this week that Iran’s uranium enrichment is approaching a “point of no return” and encouraged “imposing sanctions if there is no progress” with Tehran regarding the 2015 nuclear deal.
In a speech to his country’s ambassadors, Macron also assured that the Islamic Republic “is the main strategic and security challenge for France, the Europeans, the entire region and beyond.”
