Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says arrest warrant against Netanyahu is ‘political death’ of Israel

Applauds ICC for “identifying” “war criminals” who must be “arrested and tried”

MADRID, 22 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, Hosein Salami, stated this Friday that the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is an example of “the political death of this regime.”

“We are facing the political death of this regime. The world is closing its doors to it,” he said, before applauding the ICC’s decision to “identify the leaders of the Zionist regime as war criminals who must be prosecuted, arrested and courts.”

Thus, he highlighted that “this is a great victory for the resistance movements in Palestine and Lebanon”, before emphasizing that “it is time for governments to also close economic channels, something that we convey in particular to Muslim countries.” .

In this sense, Salami has opted to “close all avenues of aid to the regime, by sea and land” and has defended that “an economic blockade” would allow “accelerating the fall of the Zionist regime”, while arguing that Israel ” It is a dagger in the hearts of Muslims.”

The arrest warrants were issued against Netanyahu and Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity perpetrated within the framework of the military offensive launched more than a year ago against the Gaza Strip in response to the attacks carried out on October 7, 2023. by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions.

The court has also ordered the arrest of the head of the military wing of Hamas, Mohamed Diab al Masri, known as ‘Abú Deif’, after other leaders of the Islamist group previously identified, Yahya Sinwar and Ismail Haniye, have lost their lives in the last months in Israeli operations. Israel has presumed him dead, although the group has not officially confirmed this.
