MADRID, 30 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Iraqi Army has redoubled its border with Syria with “advanced weapons, unmanned aircraft and infrared cameras” in the face of the resurgence in hostilities caused by the advance of jihadists and opponents in northwest Syria.

In fact, Iraq’s Defense Minister, Thabet al Abbasi, visited the border with Syria this Saturday to supervise security preparations.
Al Abbasi “has held meetings with operational commanders” on the border to discuss “the latest developments in Syria and their implications for Iraq, as well as security preparations to secure the border and prevent the infiltration of terrorists and armed groups into the territory.” Iraqi,” the Ministry said in a statement.
The minister also carried out an “aerial reconnaissance tour along the border strip between Iraq and Syria” to inspect the measures taken by the security forces.
Finally, this afternoon the Syrian Presidency confirmed that the Syrian President, Bashar al Assad, held a conversation with the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohamed Shia al Sudani, in which the latter promised the Syrian head of State his cooperation in the “fight against terrorism.”
