Katz vows to act ‘accordingly’ after latest Israeli deaths in West Bank

MADRID 7 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Minister of Defense, Israel Katz, promised this Tuesday to respond “as appropriate” to the three deaths of three of his compatriots in a shooting that occurred the day before in the northern West Bank.

This Tuesday, Katz was visiting the scene of the events, the West Bank town of Al Funduq, from where he described what happened this past Monday as an “act of war” that must be responded to as such.

“The despicable and murderous terrorist attack that occurred here yesterday is an act of war for all intents and purposes, and will be responded to accordingly,” Katz warned, in statements provided by his office.

“We will attack the terrorists and those who sent them, and we will act forcefully against the places where they came from,” stressed the Minister of Defense, who has personally thanked one of the neighbors who shot at the armed men who attacked several vehicles near him. I pass through Route 55.

At least three people were killed, including a police officer, and a dozen others were injured. Al Funduq is located along a major artery used by thousands of drivers every day. The authors are still missing.

Israeli authorities have reported that three Palestinians opened fire at a car at close range, killing two women instantly. They then opened fire on a bus, leaving eight injured. Finally, as they fled, they shot at a third vehicle and killed a police sergeant.

Meanwhile, some of the most extremist members of Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet, such as Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, have called for a large-scale military operation like the one in the Gaza Strip to be launched, both in this town in the West Bank and in others like Nablus and Jenin.

For now, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have launched an operation in the last few hours in the village of Talluza, in Nablus, which has left a Palestinian dead, whom Hamas has identified as one of its members.
