Lebanon raises the death toll from Israeli Army attacks to more than 3,500

MADRID 18 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health reported this Monday that more than 3,500 people have died and another nearly 15,000 have been injured by attacks by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as part of their offensive against the party. Shiite militia Hezbollah over the last year.

Specifically, the Lebanese health authorities have reported that the toll increases to 3,516 deaths after adding another 35 deaths in the last few hours. Likewise, the Israeli attacks of the last day have left 143 new injuries, thus increasing the total number to 14,929.

The most affected regions in the last day have been the Southern governorate, with thirteen dead and 69 injured; and Nabatiye, with another twelve dead and 22 injured. In the city of Beirut, ten deaths and 45 injuries have been reported, while in Mount Lebanon and Baalbek-Hermel a total of seven injuries have been confirmed.

Of the total number of deaths, more than 2,460 are men, while another more than 670 are women and more than 230 are children. On the other hand, the high number of injuries is due in part to the coordinated explosion of communication devices that surprised the Lebanese population at the beginning of September.

According to figures shared by Lebanese health authorities on their social networks, a total of 212 health personnel have died as victims of the Israeli attacks, while almost 320 others have been injured. On the other hand, more than 130 health facilities have suffered damage.

The Israeli Army unleashed a new invasion of Lebanon on October 1 after several weeks of intense bombings and attacks against the country, including the aforementioned coordinated explosion of thousands of ‘pagers’ and ‘walkie-talkies’ linked to Hezbollah, after more than eleven months of fighting with Hezbollah in the border area.

The resurgence in hostilities is part of the clashes that began more than a year ago, after Hezbollah attacked Israeli territory a day after the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, which led Israel to unleash a bloody offensive against the Gaza Strip, where more than 43,800 people have already died.
