MADRID 21 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, this Wednesday described as “garbage” the law approved this week in the United States House of Representatives that seeks to prohibit the hiring of people linked to the “illegitimate government” Maduro.
“I totally repudiate the attempt to put Bolívar’s name on a dirty and criminal law of war against Venezuela in the United States Parliament,” he declared, while describing the law as a “garbage law” and “infamy.” adding that it has been requested by the opposition and that in this way it is committing “serious national and international crimes.”
Maduro has warned that those who are willing to support a law against Venezuela, as has been the case of the opposition leader, María Corina Machado, “must abide by the consequences” because “that is association to commit a crime,” indicating that those who who associate so that this law is finally approved by the US Upper House must be punished, according to the Últimas Noticias portal.
For his part, Machado thanked US officials for “supporting the courage and will of the Venezuelan people,” ensuring that “the Maduro regime will not succeed in silencing the truth.” “It is a crucial step towards accountability on the part of the Maduro regime. We hope to advance the fight for freedom in Venezuela, working together to achieve a speedy transition to democracy and a bright future for the region,” he told through your profile on the social network X.
Hours before, the opponent maintained that this law “sends a clear message to the regime: repression and criminal activities have consequences, and no one will be able to normalize them.” “Now is the time to act. Until the end,” he concluded.
In particular, the so-called Bolívar Law approved earlier this week prohibits “the United States Government from hiring any person who has commercial operations with the illegitimate Government of Nicolás Maduro.” Likewise, this legislation, which must pass through the Senate, also prevents the hiring of people who do business with “any successor government of Venezuela that is not recognized as legitimate by the United States.”
