The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, celebrated this Friday the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel after about two months of Israeli invasion and about fourteen months of fighting between Israeli troops and the Shiite militia party Hezbollah, although has warned the region to “be careful” because Israel “wants to exterminate the Arab peoples.”

“Be careful with this peace agreement, from Venezuela we celebrate the agreement and congratulate the people of Lebanon, but be careful because they are led by criminals who hate and want to exterminate the Arab and Palestinian peoples to take away their land and wealth,” he said. Maduro asserted through the Venezuelan state television channel.

The president has denounced that Israel “signs the agreement and then goes to Syria and launches an offensive by terrorist groups, feeds new groups, uses Israeli and American aviation to bomb the Syrian army, the Iranian forces that are supporting the people of Syria against terrorism”.

“So,” he added, “it is not only Gaza, it is not only Palestine, they want to conquer and crush the Arab people and possess the political power, lands and wealth of the entire Arab world.”

The Venezuelan president, within the framework of the International Conference in Solidarity with Palestine, held on Friday in Caracas, has warned this Middle Eastern state with limited recognition: “Palestine, today is Lebanon, but they want to go through Syria, through Iraq, for Jordan and for that entire region in their project that we do not hesitate to describe as a colonialist project,” he concluded.

Israel and Hezbollah reached an agreement on Tuesday for a ceasefire of about 60 days, which stipulates that both Hezbollah and Israeli troops must abandon southern Lebanese territory in favor of the regular Lebanese Army, which must take positions in the area. to guarantee the security of northern Israel.

The resurgence of hostilities in Beirut and southern Lebanon is part of the clashes that began more than a year ago after Hezbollah attacked Israel a day after the offensive of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on October 7, 2023. which left almost 1,200 dead and 240 hostages and served as a trigger for the current war in the Middle East.
