Maduro will decorate the 21 sanctioned by the United States

MADRID 28 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has announced that he will decorate the 21 officials of his Government and members of his security apparatus sanctioned this Wednesday by the United States authorities for their involvement in “electoral fraud” and in “repressive” actions. “adopted after the elections of July 28.

“I have given the order to create in the coming days the decoration, the high decoration of the Republic, which will bear the name of Victoria of Ayacucho, and I am going to place the decoration on each of these men, of these beings who have been attacked today,” the president said during a public event.

Maduro has defended those sanctioned as “a group of eminent men from (his) country” and has called the Treasury Department’s measure “aggression.”

“If the issue of aggression through the so-called sanctions were not so serious, I would say that what they have done is ridiculous. I would dare to say that they are ridiculous and that we laugh at their sanctions, but I am not going to do it , although that is what causes it,” said the president.

The United States authorities have imposed this new package of sanctions against 21 people for their involvement in “electoral fraud” and in the “repressive” actions adopted after the July 28 elections.

The Treasury Department has indicated in a statement that all of them – among whom is Daniella Desiree Cabello Contreras, the daughter of the Venezuelan Minister of the Interior – have been sanctioned because they maintain ties with the authorities of the Caribbean country and have “supported and contributed to carrying out Maduro’s orders to repress civil society in their efforts to fraudulently declare himself the winner of the Venezuelan elections.”
