MADRID 2 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least 53 people have been injured when a stand collapsed in the multipurpose room of the Totonicapán City Hall, west of Guatemala City, when New Year’s celebrations were taking place.
Sources consulted by the Guatemalan newspaper ‘Prensa Libre’ have indicated that 22 minors and 31 adults have been transferred to the José Felipe Flores Hospital in the city, although only five have been admitted and remain under observation.
“We deeply regret this situation, which is completely beyond our good will. Aware of the safety of the attendees, we decided to suspend the fourth presentation of the event as a preventive measure. However, the others will be maintained,” the organizers announced through a statement.
