French security forces have reported the seizure of more than two tons of cocaine hidden in a container in the port of Le Havre, in northern France.
The Paris Prosecutor’s Office has reported that there are two detainees accused of importing narcotics by an organized gang, transportation, possession, acquisition, offer or transfer, participation in a criminal conspiracy and importation by smuggling, prosecutor Laure Beccuau explained in a statement. .
These crimes could mean 30 years in prison for the two suspects, a 22-year-old dockworker and a 41-year-old truck driver. The two detainees are under provisional arrest ordered by a judge.
The operation is the result of collaboration between the Rouen gendarmerie and the Police Anti-Narcotics Office (OFAST). The researchers have explained that they used the cloning technique. “This container has exactly the same identification marks as another container already unloaded,” he noted.
The drug could have reached a value of 130 million euros, has highlighted the Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, who has highlighted the importance of the operation. “The war against drug trafficking intensifies day by day thanks to the exceptional work of the agents,” he highlighted.
