MADRID 26 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
NATO has called this Thursday for a “complete investigation” into the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines plane that occurred on Wednesday near the city of Aktau, in Kazakhstan, in which at least 38 people have died.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and victims of Azerbaijan Airlines flight J28243. We wish a speedy recovery to those injured in the accident and call for a full investigation,” NATO spokesperson Farah Dakhlallah said in a message on your account on social network X.
The Kremlin spokesman, Dimitri Peskov, warned this Thursday of the “error” of formulating hasty hypotheses about the reasons for the plane crash, after the Ukrainian authorities have pointed to the Russian defenses as responsible for the tragedy, without the authorities Kazakhs have so far given a definitive version of the causes.
In this context, some information that has circulated in recent hours suggests that the tragedy occurred as a result of the impact of a flock of birds against the aircraft, while other media claim that an oxygen cylinder exploded on board, causing the pilots lost control of the aircraft.
The aircraft covered the route that connects the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, with that of the Russian region of Chechnya, Grozny. Just after a couple of hours of flight, the plane requested an emergency landing. Due to thick fog in Grozny, it was diverted first to Makhachkala, in Russian Dagestan, and then to Aktau, where it finally crashed about three kilometers from the airport of this city, located on the shores of the Caspian Sea.
