Barcelona will look to secure the second spot in the La Liga table on Sunday when they face off against Getafe at Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
Ahead of their penultimate clash of the 2021/22 La Liga, the Catalan giants have released the squad list for their trip to Madrid. And, there is no place for defender Ronald Araujo in the travelling party.
The Uruguayan had picked up a concussion in the last game, but had returned to training on Saturday and was pushing to play. However, manager Xavi Hernandez has seemingly deemed it risky to rush him back and has not included Araujo in the squad.
His centre-back partner Eric Garcia also misses out with an injury. Even if fit he would have not made the squad as the Spaniard is suspended for accumulation of cards. Two other players, Frenkie de Jong and Jordi Alba, also miss out due to suspensions.
Apart from the aforementioned quartet, Sergino Dest, Sergi Roberto, Gerard Pique, Pedri and Nico Gonzalez are all unavailable due to injuries. But, there is some positive news as Sergio Busquets returns after missing the Celta Vigo clash due to suspension.
Xavi has also called up several youngsters from Barça’s B team, with the likes of Alejandro Balde, Alvaro Sanz, Mika Marmol and Jandro Orellana all being named in the squad for the trip to Getafe.
