Palestinian security forces block Jenin refugee camp

MADRID 11 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Palestinian Authority security forces have blocked the entrances to the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank and are preventing the entry of food and medicine in a new operation against Palestinian armed militias.

The measure also implies the cutting of the water and electricity supply in a large part of the camp, where numerous arrests have been made, including of injured patients inside hospitals, according to the pan-Arab television Al Jazeera, which denounces that the authorities have threatened the press to stop reporting and not enter the refugee camp.

On Friday, the Israeli Armed Forces entered the refugee camp and assaulted one of the homes in what is known as the Martyrs’ Triangle, in the south of Jenin. Sources cited by Al Jazeera indicate that shots and explosions occurred.

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), opposed to the Palestinian Authority, has denounced the death of at least 19 people in operations by the Palestinian security forces in Jenin and has condemned the “repressive practices.”

The clashes have involved Palestinian security forces and the Jenin Brigades, which include members of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and the armed wings of Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
