The Super Bowl LVI Halftime show created history in a lot of aspects, but it definitely marked a new milestone by bringing so many Black artists together on the stage for the first time. Comprising an epic lineup of Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blige, and Eminem, the halftime show won everyone’s hearts and even managed to make the millennials nostalgic. While fans lauded the show as the perfect tribute to Black History Month, not many were apparently happy with the all-Black lineup.

Many Conservative supporters drew flak for insinuating that the Halftime show was ‘too Black’, while claiming that it did not cater to the American ideal of equality. “The NFL is now the league of sexual anarchy. This halftime show should not be allowed on television,” tweeted Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, only to be lambasted by fans who dubbed him racist.

Newsmax host Sean Spicer also expressed his confusion over the “message” indicated by the Halftime Show lineup, only to be shut down by Andy Bobrow, “Black culture is American culture make your peace with it please.”

Another fan slammed the ‘racists’ disliking the halftime show, “Too black for the racists. It’s their loss. The halftime show was the best.”

A second fan tweeted, “The #HalfTimeShow was way too black for today’s Republican Party & they’re probably at work right now trying to create a law to prevent something like that happening again. 😂#BlackHistoryMonth well represented in that show!

“I know some of these white people was watching the halftime show in disgust😂😂 too many black people for y’all?” another user asked.

Dear @NFL / @pepsi

Twitter celebrated the tribute to Black History Month in Super Bowl with the Halftime show lineup, as thought leader Savannah Britt noted, “THAT IS BLACK CULTURE! BEST HALFTIME SHOW EVER 🎬.”

WCPO anchor Jasmine Styles tweeted, “This halftime show is VERY Black. And I love it. #SuperBowl.” Singer Eric Benet also tweeted, “Wooooo!!! that was a BLACK A** HALFTIME SHOW… and I LOVE IT!!! #SuperBowlHalftimeShow”

Surprising to many, the Super Bowl Halftime performance was dubbed ‘excellent’ even by controversial commentator Candace Owens, who ended up being targeted by White supremacists for her opinion.
