Petro proposes repeating the elections in Venezuela

MADRID 11 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, raised this Saturday the possibility of repeating the elections in Venezuela as a formula to overcome the political crisis that the country is experiencing.

“If the elections in Venezuela were not free, since they were held under the economic blockade that becomes explicit extortion,” Petro noted in a message published on his account on X.

“It is important to maintain the thesis of the broadest possible political dialogue in Venezuela, the comprehensive lifting of the blockade and a new possibility of free expression for the people of Venezuela,” he added.

This past Friday, Nicolás Maduro was sworn in for a third term as president of Venezuela despite the opposition denouncing electoral fraud in the July 28 elections.

In fact, it has published a large part of the minutes that would prove that the opposition candidate, Edmundo González, was the winner of the elections.
