Qassem stresses that without Hezbollah “Lebanon can no longer exist”

MADRID 4 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The general secretary of the Lebanese Shiite party-militia Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, highlighted this Saturday that it was only thanks to the force and means of the militias that Israel was unable to penetrate Lebanese territory and that the country only continues to exist thanks to the armed resistance to the Israeli invasion.

“Lebanon can no longer exist without the resistance,” Qassem stressed in a televised speech reported by Lebanese media.

Hezbollah’s “determination” has prevented Israel from advancing beyond “a few hundred meters” from the border in 64 days and recalled that in 1982 “it reached Beirut in a few days,” he declared.

“Israel has not been able to penetrate further into our lands thanks to the forces of the resistance. The resistance is powerful, dissuasive and effective in frustrating the enemy’s objectives despite the extensive destruction and Israeli aggression,” he noted.

Qassem highlighted that “Israel was forced to call for a ceasefire due to the capabilities of the resistance” and despite the fact that it launched “unprecedented aggression.”

Regarding the 60-day deadline for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese soil, which expires on January 31, Qassem has warned that “there is no specific deadline that conditions resistance.”

“Our patience could run out before the 60 days are up or it could last longer” because it will be Hezbollah’s leadership “that will decide when and how to fight, as well as what weapons are used,” he argued. He has also referred to the scope of application, which “only affects the area south of the Litani River.”
