MADRID 9 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Russian Armed Forces began this Thursday a series of naval military maneuvers in the waters of the Black Sea in front of the city of Sevastopol, located on the Crimean peninsula, a territory annexed by Moscow in 2014 without the recognition of Ukraine or much of the international community.
The governor of the area, Mikhail Razvozhaev, has confirmed the start of these maneuvers and has indicated that they include the use of “live fire” and “various types of weapons.” “Until 12:00 (local time) the Russian fleet will continue carrying out these exercises, which include various firings. Everything is calm in the city,” he stated on his Telegram account.
The previous naval maneuvers carried out by Russia took place last November and included defense activities against possible acts of sabotage against Russian submarines.
The country’s Navy has been carrying out this type of maneuver for several years in an attempt to improve its ability to respond to possible attacks within the framework of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began almost three years ago.
