MADRID 30 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has announced that Moscow will cancel its moratorium on the deployment of medium- and short-range missile systems capable of carrying nuclear warheads in response to the expansion of this type of weaponry by the United States. in other parts of the world.
“The United States arrogantly ignored the warnings of Russia and China and, in practice, began to deploy weapons of this class in various regions of the world,” Lavrov said in an interview for the TASS agency.
In that sense, he explained that this moratorium is currently “practically unviable” and therefore “it will have to be abandoned” to develop, he said, “compensatory measures”, such as the deployment of medium-range missiles such as the Oreshnyk, planned for be placed already in Belarus.
Likewise, Lavrov has rejected the criticism coming from the West about the presence of North Korean soldiers in the war in Ukraine and has pointed out that this participation responds to the cooperation treaties between Moscow and Pyongyang and the escalation caused by NATO.
“Those who blame Russia for something should look in the mirror. NATO servicemen and mercenaries openly participate in the planning and conduct of military operations on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” he said.
“NATO is involved in the invasion of the Kursk region and in long-range missile attacks on Russian territory,” Lavrov stressed.
In recent months, coinciding with the authorization of the United States and the United Kingdom to use their long-range missiles against Russian territory, Ukrainian troops have carried out raids on the Kursk province, making it the first time since the beginning of the war Russia is the scene of the conflict.
