MADRID 7 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, assured this Tuesday that fentanyl does not represent a public health problem for her country, as in the United States and Canada, as she said at the launch of an anti-drug campaign.
“As you can see, fentanyl in our country is not really a problem. There is not a crisis like there is in some cities in the United States and Canada, mainly,” defended the Mexican president.
Sheinbaum explained that this campaign seeks to raise awareness among the population about the meaning of fentanyl and the damage it can cause, warning that this crisis comes from the consumption of medications with the presence of this substance.
The Minister of Health, David Kershenobich, has expressed himself along these lines, highlighting that at the moment the consumption of this substance in Mexico “does not reach the proportions it has in other countries”, according to the local press.
Kershenobich has reported that the consumption of the vast majority of drugs in Mexico is “more or less” stable, although he has highlighted the use of methamphetamines as the “most important” at the moment.
