Shoigu visits the Russian Federal Nuclear Center after the entry into force of the new nuclear doctrine

The secretary of the Russian Security Council, former Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu, traveled this Wednesday to the country’s Federal Nuclear Center, located in the town of Sarov, in the center-west of the country and an exponent of advances in this area. nuclear during the Soviet era.

The visit of the Russian leader occurs just a few days after President Vladimir Putin ratified the entry into force of the new nuclear doctrine, the document in which Russia details the possible war scenarios to which Moscow could respond with nuclear weapons.

Shoigu’s visit is part of a work meeting, as detailed by the Security Council itself in a statement collected by the Russian news agency TASS. There, the secretary of the organization has been updated on “the results of the work” on nuclear matters.

“The director (…) presented the scientific program of the nuclear center to guarantee national security,” added the Security Council in its statement, where it also points out that the advances of the Federal Nuclear Center are “in the interest of the military operation special”, the term with which Moscow refers to the invasion of Ukraine.
