MADRID 7 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The head of the Office for Corruption Cases of Senior Officials (CIO), Oh Dong Woon, apologized this Tuesday for not having achieved the arrest of the ousted president, Yoon Suk Yeol, within the deadline set by the security forces of the country.
Thus, he has promised to finally have him arrested in the coming days, as he expressed during a new appearance before the Judicial Commission of the National Assembly, where he regretted the strong opposition shown by members of Yoon’s security team in his residence.
Faced with the criticism leveled against him, mainly by members of the opposition, Oh has attributed the impossibility of arresting Yoon during the last week to “unpredictable issues”, but has admitted that it was his “responsibility”, according to information collected by the agency. Yonhap News.
To this end, he explained, the Anti-Corruption Office will “prepare exhaustively” to carry out the next arrest warrant against the president, who was dismissed by Parliament after declaring controversial martial law at the beginning of December, an issue that has caused a serious political crisis.
However, uncertainty continues after the agents encountered hundreds of members of the security team on Friday, who formed a barrier and prevented access to the premises, avoiding arrest. The authorities have 48 hours from the arrest to question Yoon, who must request an order to extend his time in custody if necessary.
Thus, the investigators have once again formally requested an extension of the arrest warrant, whose previous request ended this Monday at midnight. Now, the measure is once again in the hands of justice.
