MADRID 2 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The new Foreign Minister of Syria, Hasan al Shibani – also known as Zaid al Attar – stated this Wednesday during his first official visit abroad since taking office after the fall of the Bashar al Assad regime that he hopes that His trip to Saudi Arabia opens a “bright new page” in bilateral relations between both countries.

“I have just arrived in the brother kingdom of Saudi Arabia, accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Murhaf abu Qasra, and the head of Intelligence, Anas Jatab. Through this first visit in the history of a free Syria, we aspire to open a new and brilliant page in Syrian-Saudi relations, in line with the long shared history,” he expressed through his profile on the social network X.

For its part, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia has indicated that the deputy minister, Walid bin Abdulkarim al Juraiji, has received the high-level Syrian delegation at the King Khalid International Airport, located in the capital, Riyadh.

The visit of this delegation has coincided with the arrival of the first Saudi humanitarian aid plane at Damascus International Airport, as part of an airlift to alleviate the humanitarian situation in the country, devastated after more than a decade of war.

The new Syrian authorities have been established after the fall of Al Assad due to the lightning offensive launched by jihadists and rebels led by Hayat Jahrir al Sham (HTS), whose leader Ahmed Hussein al Shara, known as Abu Mohamed al Golani, is the current ‘de facto’ leader of the Asian country.
