MADRID 11 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The jihadist authorities of Syria announced this Saturday that they have managed to dismantle an operation by the organization, also jihadist, Islamic State in the Sayida Zaynab mosque, on the outskirts of the country’s capital, Damascus.
“The General Intelligence Service, in cooperation with the Department of Public Security around Damascus, has managed to thwart an attempt by the Islamic State to cause an explosion inside the mosque.”
The mosque is a Shiite sanctuary of enormous Islamic significance, where the tomb of Zaynab, granddaughter of the Prophet Muhammad, is located and is located in the center of the dormitory city of the same name, south of Damascus.
Like all Shiite religious buildings, it is a priority target for the itinerant cells of the Islamic State, Sunni extremists, who still roam the country.
The operation to dismantle the attack has resulted in one detainee, according to sources from the Syrian news agency SANA, the former spokesperson for the overthrown Syrian government and now directed by the country’s new authorities.
