The Argentine Defense Minister accuses the Venezuelan attorney general of “trying to divert attention” from his “abuses”

MADRID 28 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Minister of Defense of Argentina, Gerardo Werthein, has accused this Friday the Attorney General of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, of “trying to divert attention” from his “abuses” after pointing out him and the head of Argentine Security, Patricia Bullrich, as “persons of interest in the investigation” of the Argentine gendarme Nahuel Agustín Gallo for alleged “links to terrorism.”

“Your statements about ‘persons of interest’ are nothing more than a crude attempt to divert attention from the abuses you have committed during your administration. Your record is riddled with disappearances, illegitimate kidnappings, arbitrary detentions, false accusations and other practices that “Not only do they violate Human Rights, but they constitute serious violations of people’s dignity,” Werthein reproached him in a message posted on his account on the social network X.

Thus, the Argentine politician has urged Saab to give an account of his “bravery” by freeing Gallo and the other citizens of other countries who “suffer from his abuse of power”, challenging him to a “face to face” with him. before an impartial tribunal.”

“Present your evidence, answer for your actions and submit to the decisions of true Justice. I am willing to do so, at any time and in any place, because the truth does not depend on rhetoric or circumstantial positions. The truth is unique and “must be determined by an independent court, where there is no room for impunity,” he added.

Along the same lines, the Argentine Defense official has accused the prosecutor of using Human Rights as “an instrument” and of “discretionally manipulating them” instead of defending them as the “universal value” that they are.

“Let’s talk about Human Rights and civil rights, Prosecutor Saab: Are they respected under your direction or have they been systematically violated? What have you done with the mandate to protect justice? Because, until now, your actions only reflect the consolidation of a system that uses the law as a tool of persecution and oppression,” Werthein continued, while promising that the Government of Argentina will continue “to denounce (its) abuses and abuses.”

These statements come after the Venezuelan attorney general has published a statement informing that both Bullrich and Werthein were “identified as persons of interest in the investigation” opened against Gallo for their “incriminating statements” and, therefore, “they will be incorporated.” to the cause.”

On December 8, the Argentine gendarme was detained when he tried to enter Venezuela by land from Colombia. The non-commissioned officer of the Argentine Gendarmerie intended to meet with his wife of Venezuelan nationality and their daughter, a version that Caracas has rejected.

The Government of Venezuela has accused Gallo of being part of an international conspiracy to attack President Nicolás Maduro, a claim that Argentina has denied, further clouding relations between both countries.
