The Bolivian Prosecutor’s Office has requested six months of provisional prison for Ramiro Cucho and Humberto Claros, allies of former President Evo Morales, detained the day before for crimes of terrorism, criminal association and kidnapping, among others, for their role in the blockades that paralyzed part of the country almost a month.
The prosecution has requested that both comply with these precautionary measures in the San Pedro de Chonchocoro prison, in La Paz. Likewise, it has guaranteed all the rights and guarantees of those investigated for those blockades.
“We are going to be objective (…) an exhaustive investigation was carried out; responsible and objective by the commission of prosecutors of La Paz,” defended the State Attorney General, Roger Mariaca, reports the Bolivian newspaper ‘La Reason’.
Claros, leader of a peasant union, and Cucho, head of an organization of indigenous peoples, have been arrested for crimes of terrorism, armed uprising against the security and sovereignty of the State, trafficking and illicit possession of weapons, association to commit a crime. and kidnapping, among others.
During the search carried out at Cucho’s home in Potosí, the Police reported the discovery of “weapons and war ammunition.”
Just over a hundred people have been arrested for their participation in those protests that blocked the roads to the east and west of Bolivia from the department of Cochabamba for 24 days, also leading to clashes with the Police and even the taking of hostages and military regiments. .
On the other hand, the former Minister of the Presidency Juan Ramón Quintana, a member of Morales’ cabinet for about nine months in 2019, is still being sought and captured. He is also accused of being responsible for the riots of those days after publicly stating that “the blockades feed of the blood.”
