MADRID 26 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The regional prosecutor of Magallanes, Cristian Crisosto, has confirmed that the Chilean president, Gabriel Boric, has been charged with a possible crime of “improper dissemination of intimate images”, within the framework of an investigation following a complaint filed by a woman for some events that occurred ten years ago.
Crisosto has not mentioned the sexual harassment that this woman claimed to have suffered in a complaint, which the Chilean president’s own defense was responsible for confirming on Monday night through a statement, in which, on the contrary, it was pointed out that Boric “is a victim” of “systematic harassment” by her.
The prosecutor has confirmed that the case is confidential and that it began with the complaint of this woman in September, which has not been formalized and is subject to various open proceedings, according to Chilean media.
“From day one, the victim has been offered attention and advice in all activities of the case,” added the prosecutor, after the statement from the Presidency signed by Boric’s lawyer, Jonathan Valenzuela Saldías.
The events under investigation would have occurred between July 2013 and July 2014 when Boric was carrying out a work internship in the Punta Arenas region. “He never had an emotional or friendly relationship” with this woman and therefore “categorically rejects and denies the complaint,” said his lawyer.
Furthermore, the defense maintains that the victim is the Chilean president, since he was “systematically” harassed by the complainant through twenty emails, “including in one of them the unsolicited and unconsented sending of images of a explicit”.
“Ten years later, the sender of the emails filed a complaint without any basis against the already president Gabriel Boric on September 6, 2024,” explains the Chilean president’s defense, which adds that since July 2014 there has been no class of communication between him and the complainant.
In the last few hours, the content of those emails have been leaked to the Chilean press. In them you can read how the complainant shows an insistent predilection towards Boric, with declarations of love included, even though she received no response. Afterwards the messages vary towards marked animosity.
The Chilean president’s lawyer has reported that the content of all those messages have been delivered to the Prosecutor’s Office.
