The Government militarizes Caracas one week before the inauguration

MADRID 4 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Bolivarian National Armed Forces have launched a security plan one week before the presidential inauguration, scheduled for January 10. The opposition demands that Edmundo González take office and denounces electoral fraud, while the authorities and the ruling party support the continuity of Nicolás Maduro.

There will be more than 1,200 soldiers involved in the device, according to the head of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM), Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Granko Arteaga, cited by the Últimas Noticias portal.

“I am counting on you to defend this country and the people. With the extraordinary civic-military-police fusion led by Chief Commander Nicolás Maduro Moros, we are going to guarantee peace, to give security to the people. We are going to guarantee that this January 10 President Maduro is sworn in and we are sworn in with him. Let’s go together for victory!” Granko Arteaga stated in a video broadcast on social networks.

The soldier has highlighted that in recent months operations have been carried out against mercenaries who have tried to enter Venezuela “the country to subvert order and attack institutions.”

In the last few hours, messages have been published on social networks reporting the presence of more security forces in points such as O’Leary Square, where on July 29 there were important protests against the result of the elections. There are now agents in the area with riot gear.

There are also agents stationed in the center of the capital, in the vicinity of the Miraflores Palace, on México and Urdaneta avenues.

The official results show Nicolás Maduro as the winner of the July 28 presidential elections, but the opposition has published more than 80 percent of the minutes obtained by witnesses and polling station members that would demonstrate the victory of the opposition candidate, Edmundo González.
