The great fire in Southern California already threatens 100,000 residents of the Brentwood and Encino districts

MADRID 11 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The California Fire Department and the Los Angeles City Council issued new evacuation alerts this Saturday in the large districts of Encino and Brentwood – where some 100,000 people live – due to the proximity of the devastating Palisades fire.

“Prepare to evacuate due to the Palisades fire,” reads the city council alert issued last night to the population of Encino, particularly to residents north of the district to Ventura Boulevard.

The Getty Center in Brentwood, home to one of the largest art collections in Los Angeles, is completely closed and only emergency personnel are on site, according to a statement from its spokesperson, Ali Sivak, reported by the ‘Los Angeles Times’.

The great Palisades fire has already devastated more than 8,200 hectares and, according to the latest balance provided by the authorities yesterday afternoon, it is 8 percent contained. At least eleven people have died since his declaration and more than 12,000 structures have been devoured by flames.

Following the official declarations of the state of catastrophe, the Secretary of Health and Human Services of the United States, Xavier Becerra, announced this Friday a Public Health Emergency situation to reinforce the response of health services to health problems derived from the inhalation of the immense smoke screen that is covering the region.
