The Houthis denounce new bombings by the US and the United Kingdom against several points in Yemen

MADRID 9 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Houthis have denounced this Thursday new bombings by the United States and the United Kingdom against the capital of Yemen, Sanaa, and two other provinces, with no information on casualties for now, a day after Washington confirmed air strikes against alleged targets. of the rebels in the country.

According to information provided by the Al Masirah television network, linked to the group, the bombings have reached the Yarban area, in Sana’a, as well as Harf Sufyan, in Amran, and Al Luhaya, in Hodeida, without the United States and the United Kingdom have spoken about it.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed on Wednesday new “precision” bombings against two “underground advanced conventional weapons (ACW) storage facilities in Houthi-controlled territories in Yemen”, before stating that the rebels use these facilities to “carry out attacks” against ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

The Houthis, who have controlled Sanaa and other areas of northern and western Yemen since 2015, began attacking Israeli territory and ships linked to the country in the waters of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden with drones and missiles in response to the military offensive in the Gaza Strip, unleashed after the attacks carried out on October 7, 2023 by Hamas and other Palestinian groups.

The Houthi attacks have led Israel to launch several bombing raids against Yemen, while the United States and the United Kingdom have also carried out airstrikes against the country, arguing that they seek to guarantee the safety of navigation in the area. The rebels have promised to maintain their operations until Israel ends the offensive against Gaza, which has already left nearly 46,000 dead.
