MADRID 28 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Israeli Armed Forces have captured more than a hundred alleged members of the special forces of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) militias, the Nuhba Force, in an operation in Jabalia, in the north of the Gaza Strip.
These militiamen were captured “in a maneuver involving buildings” and later transferred for interrogation to Israeli territory, according to Israeli public television, Walla, citing military sources. Some of the “terrorists” were hiding in a hospital and many surrendered with their hands up.
“We are getting closer to breaking the symbol they call Jabalia,” highlighted a military official quoted by the Israeli network.
In total, since the beginning of the last offensive of the 162nd Division in Jabalia, some 1,800 “terrorists” have been eliminated and more than 1,460 Palestinian combatants have been detained, the majority after surrendering to Israeli forces, according to Walla. Many of these fighters participated in the attack against Israeli territory on October 7, 2023.
Hamas had built Jabalia as a fortified city, with underground tunnels, bunkers and facilities located next to civilian buildings such as mosques, schools and headquarters of international humanitarian organizations to make any Israeli air or ground attack difficult. However, the 162nd Division has destroyed numerous buildings in the last week, reaching a 30 percent increase in the destruction of infrastructure.
“There is a clear order from the command to destroy the entire terrorist infrastructure of the Nuhba Force, involved in the attacks against Israel,” said an Israeli military spokesman. “The destruction of all infrastructure in Jabalia will have a domino effect on the northern Gaza Strip as a whole,” he added.
