MADRID 20 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Peruvian Justice has issued an arrest warrant against Nicanor Boluarte, brother of President Dina Boluarte, after imposing three years of provisional prison on him for a corruption case, while his lawyer anticipates that he will not submit to these precautionary measures. “This decision is arbitrary,” he denounced.
“This decision is not final because it is appealed and will have to be reviewed. I understand that you are not going to submit to this decision because you consider it to be an arbitrary measure and in that context you will not accept it,” said Luis Vivanco, Boluarte’s lawyer. , whose whereabouts he has said he does not know.
“The truth of the matter is that I have not had contact with him for a few days,” said Vivanco, who has assured that he prefers not to know certain things in order to avoid “speculation” about a possible cover-up.
The defense of the brother of the Peruvian president has accused the judge in the case, Richard Concepción Carhuancho, of acting for political motivations, since he would not have applied the most favorable rule to the accused, as “the law indicates,” as he said in a interview during this Tuesday night on RPP.
Shortly before, Carhuancho had issued a national and international arrest warrant to find the whereabouts of Boluarte and the rest of the defendants in the case known as ‘Los Waykis en lashadow’, after decreeing three months of provisional detention while the case progresses.
“Given that those investigated are free, it is ordered to notify the corresponding entities, both nationally and internationally, for the immediate location, capture and internment of the four investigated – Nicanor Boluarte, Jorge Luis Ortiz, Zenobia Herrera, Jorge Chingay Salazar–“, he ordered.
The brother of the Peruvian president is accused of influence peddling, bribery and criminal organization for allegedly intervening in the appointment of prefects and sub-prefects for proselytizing purposes in favor of the Ciudadanos por el Perú party. He faces a possible sentence of 35 years in prison.
According to the accusation, Nicanor Boluarte led a criminal organization, taking advantage of the fact that his sister took power in Peru to distribute key positions in various state entities to people he trusted.
Nicanor Boluarte’s problems with Justice occur as the Peruvian president is not going through her best moment. His turbulent administration has been marked by high levels of insecurity, numerous protests that have left several dead, and an approval rating that barely reaches 3 percent.
