The Kremlin spokesman, Dimitri Peskov, warned this Thursday of the “error” of formulating hasty hypotheses about the reasons for this Wednesday’s plane crash in Kazakhstan, after the Ukrainian authorities have pointed to Russian defenses as responsible for the tragedy.
“It would be a mistake to formulate hypotheses before the conclusions of the investigation. We are not going to do it and no one should do it. We must wait until the end of the investigation,” he said in a press conference from Moscow, according to the Russian agency. Interfax news.
On Christmas Day, an Azerbaijan Airlines plane covering the Baku-Grozny route crashed about three kilometers from the airport in the Kazakh city of Aktau, leaving 38 dead and 29 injured, most of them very seriously.
The reason for the accident is being investigated. Some reports suggest that the tragedy occurred as a result of a flock of birds hitting the aircraft, while other media claim that an oxygen cylinder exploded on board, causing the pilots to lose control of the aircraft.
The president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, pointed out that given the “different versions” that have been appearing, “it is premature” to venture into what happened, which is why he has asked to wait for the investigations to be completed.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has accused Russian air defenses of being behind what happened, reminiscent of the case of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 covering the Amsterdam-Kuala Lumpur route that crashed in Ukraine in July 2014 after being shot down by a Russian missile.
