MADRID 4 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Georgia, the home state of the late former US president Jimmy Carter, will open the president’s funeral chapel at 01:00 this morning, time in peninsular Spain and Balares, at the beginning of a 48-hour state funeral.
The funeral itself will begin with the arrival hours before of the former president’s family at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center to prepare for the transfer of the deceased along a route that will take him through local historical sites to the state capital, Atlanta.
Governor Brian Kemp will lead the official delegation in the ceremony that will take place in the state Congress, accompanied by those responsible for the local legislature, before the tributes carried out by his second eldest son, James Earl ‘Chip’ Carter, and the grandson of the late former president, Jason Carter.
The mortal remains of Carter, who died last Sunday at the age of 100 in his hometown of Plains, will rest until 6:00 a.m. next Tuesday (12:00 p.m. in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands) at the Carter Presidential Center.
