Belousov hopes that his visit to the country will serve to “further strengthen” the “strategic alliance” in defense

The Russian Defense Minister, Andrei Belousov, stressed this Friday during an official visit to North Korea that military cooperation between both countries “is actively expanding”, amid the strengthening of ties between Moscow and Pyongyang.
Belousov, who met during the day with his North Korean counterpart, No Gwang Chol, highlighted that “friendly ties between Russia and North Korea are actively expanding in all areas, including military cooperation,” according to the agency. Russian Interfax news.
“We are determined to implement all the agreements reached at the highest level,” he said, referring to the pacts between the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, and the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un. “We have close and fruitful cooperation with our Korean comrades,” he added.
In this sense, he expressed his confidence that the negotiations he will undertake in Pyongyang “will serve to further strengthen the Russian-North Korean strategic alliance in the defense sphere”, minutes after landing at Pyongyang International Airport.
Belousov’s trip comes just two days after South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol met in Seoul with an official Ukrainian delegation led by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov to discuss sending troops. North Koreans to Russia in view of their possible deployment in Ukrainian territory, within the framework of the invasion unleashed in February 2022.
