This Monday, the Serbian Prosecutor’s Office ordered the indictment of 13 people for their alleged responsibility in the partial collapse of the main train station in the city of Novi Sad, which caused the death of 15 people and led to a wave of resignations and arrests. .
The Prosecutor’s Office includes on its list the former Minister of Construction and Transport Goran Vesic and former officials of the state railway company, considering that they may be criminally responsible for an incident that caused 15 fatalities and two serious injuries on November 1.
They are accused of endangering the safety of the population, according to a report that also questions the role of those responsible for the design, works and technical supervision of the infrastructure, once this first phase of the investigations is concluded. The Novi Sad train station, built in 1964, was in the process of being remodeled when the accident occurred.
The Prosecutor’s Office also recommends that all the accused remain detained, according to the B92 channel. The case has generated a special stir in Serbia, where thousands of people took to the streets to support protests against the Government.
